TPF - Total Pathogen Free Diets

New product developmet - our alternative for irradiated and autoclaved products

Breeding and Maintenance Diets for Rats and Mice

We are very pleased to present you our new product TPF – Total Pathogen Free diets.

Our scientists and technologists have developed a completely new manufacturing method which effective reduces the microbiological germ status like autoclaved or irradiated feeding stuff.

TPF is particularly suitable for use in SPF-barriers or areas where an absolutely abacterial status is needed. By using a modern double vacuum packaging the risk of recontamination can be eliminated. TPF animal feed is available as high standardized breeding and maintenance diet for rats and mice, 10mm pelletized.

The advantages of TPF at a glance:

time and cost savings because of elimination of the autoclaving and irradiating process – no changes in chemical characteristics as a effect of heat

30% cheaper than irradiated feeding stuf

safety - TPF will be delivered with a batch-based microbiological analysis report

sterile, double vaccum packaging avoids recontamination

upper foil can be removed and the packaging channeled into the barrier via dip tank

12 months minimum durability

lightweight packages à 5 kg, 2 packages per  unit

standardized breeding and maintenance diets in known Altromin quality

To fulfill the special requirements of the biomedical research, especially the increasing quantity of transgenic animals, with immediate effect Altromin provides the effective TPF - Total Pathogen Free- diets also for (transgenic) mice as well as for nude rats and nude mice.

The compositions of the diets are specially adjusted to the nutritive requirements of these animals and are characterized by a higher demand on energy, e.g. of fat but also of carbohydrates and proteins. For usage inside of SPF barriers, we take care of an absolutely germ-free status of our TPF diets - that means cost and time-savings fror the user because irradiation or autoclavation is not necessary any longer by using Altromin TPF.

Using a new developped and innovative manufacturing method, (pathogen) germs and spore-forming units are eliminated while the production process. The diets are packaged under controlled aseptic environmental conditions - double vacuum packages (manageable 5kg bags). A batch-related microbiological analytical certificate (at no further costs) is inclusive! An adjustment of the animals can be excluded because the composition as well as the nutritive values are in accordance to the traditional Altromin diets 1414 and 1434.
